With a population of almost 90,000, Lucerne is a city of short distances. It is centrally located in the heart of Switzerland and has a great public transport network of buses and trains. The city is also quick to get around by bicycle or on foot.

Nextbike
As a resident of the city of Lucerne, you get the first 30 minutes of the “Nextbike” bicycle service free of charge. 
If you have a car and are unable to rent a parking space in the area, you can apply for a parking permit: City of Lucerne – Parking permit
Driving licence
Anyone holding a driving licence issued abroad must change it to a Swiss driving licence within one year of moving to Switzerland. Otherwise, they will have to take the entire driving test in accordance with Swiss specifications.
